I've had many arguments with centrist Dems over the years, and am so, so grateful to see so many of my my dearly-held progressive beliefs now embodied by... party centrists. I'm not going to claim I was right all along but...
Anyhoo, with DUers I've survived:
Kerry's swiftboating.
Cried tears of joys with other DUers when Obama and Biden won elections.
Raged against the machine when Bush and Trump were elected by the Electoral College and not the popular vote.
I've made both virtual and real life friends across the country and the world through DU. Went to several meetups in the old days - at antiwar protests in DC during Dubya's term, across the South and the country as a Hurricane Katrina volunteer coordinator, visited Alaska to stay a week with DUers, and had some fun, great meetups during the 2008 Convention in Denver.
I had to step away for a bit in 2016 as it was too stressful to be here with the infighting that happened, but had to come back to survive the Trump years.
DU has been THE online news aggregate for me, as I read reports here that I wouldn't read or hear about for days if I only relied on traditional news sources. The DUers who comb the web daily for important, interesting, and silly/heartwarming content are my heros!
Thanks to all DUers who have made my time here fun, inspiring and thought-provoking. Here's to another 20 years!
