We have an older friend who thinks AI (artificial intelligence) is pronounced "AL" as in the man's name.

My wife was on the phone the other day and the friend went on for many minutes about "AL", and my wife didn't have the heart to correct her.

So I guess she'll be calling it AL forever.

I would have corrected her, wait, no I wouldn't have.

I would have told her that the proper way to say it is "Alphonse".
