Neighbor's been revving his truck more or less constantly for 8 hours

It's now 1:00AM here, and the truck is one of those that's optimized for loud engine noise.

Also, he's been blasting tejano music for about as long.

I don't care during daylight hours, but AITA for thinking maybe he should call it quits for the night?

2. Well, here's the wrinkle...

This house used to be occupied by a nice family of four who'd moved up from Alabama last year. A few months ago the father died suddenly, so the mom and kids moved back home.

Since then, other relatives seem to have moved in. I've spoken with them, and they seem to speak about as much English as I do Spanish. The problem is that I don't believe our police force maintains a bilingual officer, and long story short, I don't want anyone to get shot in a misunderstanding.

The language barrier also prevents me from asking them myself.

I mean, if they were going to respond to a polite request, it seems unlikely that they'd have blasted their music for 7 hours in the first place.

Also, when they don't cooperate and the cops later show up (because someone will call eventually), they'll assume that I called, and I don't want to deal with hostile blowback.

7. Is it any kid of racing or compretition rig?

Or is the the owner just being an ass, and put a "fart can" on his Manly Truck? Are beer/buddies involved? Its possible they are having technical issues, especially if they are swapping years with junkyard parts.

Sometimes people are just not aware. So try explaining nicely that the music is disturbing the neighborhood. If that doesn’t work, don’t threaten to call the cops. Just do it.

12. Well, I did wind up calling.

And in the three minutes between my call and when he cops drove by, the neighbor closed up his garage and went in the house.

Just happy it's over without incident, though I'm sorry that the cops had to waste their time.

13. You could wait for them to go inside and go to sleep then go out and star washing and working on your car or truck

with the doors open and the radio on. Maybe mow the yard, get the weed wacker out for a little 2-stroke action. Leaf blowers work at night also.
