"EGO Power+ ST1521S 15-Inch String Trimmer with POWERLOAD and Carbon Fiber Split Shaft Weed Wacker 2.5Ah Battery and Charger Included." I've been taking out even some taller tough weeds with it. $249.

My only complaint is a self-inflicted problem. I use it extensively around areas with landscape fabric, which breaks off and ends up wrapped around the spindle. I have to disassemble the head assembly to remove strings of landscape fabric.

As I don't have a high volume need for this tool, I still have a different brand.
I do have 3 products by EGO, and I agree on them. Plenty of power & battery life, very high quality construction.
If & when my 12-13 year old snow blower bites the dust, I'm unlikely to even look at any other brand.

With 2 acres of fast-growing lawn in SWFL, I’ve gone through a bunch of yard equipment and tools.

IMHO, the best trimmer (weed whacker) is Black and Decker 20V Max Cordless Battery
Powered 2-in-1 String Trimmer & Lawn Edger. Depending on whether you already have B&D batteries/chargers, can get this one with or without the 2.5Ah Battery & Charger. Mine cost $89 (two years ago) at Home Depot online delivered free.

My lawn upkeep for perpetual lawn growth year round is twice a week, so I’ve been through many trimmers. And brands. This is my third B&D, and so far they’ve each lasted about three+ years of hard use.

Another benefit is that the aftermarket strings already on spools (AF 100 Trimmer Line) are available in packs of 18 at Amazon for cheap.

Hope this helps.

Have an Ego lawn mower and their chainsaw. The batteries are great! They have enough power to wear me out by the time they’re spent.

The refill it uses is very cheap on Amazon, and the battery last a long time.
That said, I don't have a lot I need to do with it.
If I did, I'd buy an EGO, which is the brand of my lawn mower, blower, & hedge trimmer. That brand is outstanding.

The cheapest I can find. Black and Decker for 40 bucks. I'm on like my 5th, lol. But that goes back 20 years. I refuse to spend 300+ dollars on cordless yard equipment. I did invest in a EGO lawn mower, 8 years in and it's going strong. Second blade though, they are seriously wimpy. Just bought a 12 amp corded chain saw, $129.00. The cordless ones start over $350 and they cant even match the power of a corded one.

Eta - you do k ow those cordless trimmers don't come with a battery? You have to buy one seperate, a 5-7 APH minimum Dewalt/Milwaukee will run you 200-300 dollars, so now your trimmer total cost is over $500. Please.

Cut a bunch of trimmer line off in 13 foot sections.

Feed line through the hole in the trimmer head, and out the hole on the other side..

Push a button.

The line loads automatically.

And the small 2.5 amp hour battery lasts a long time.

Slightly heavy but very heavy duty for a private residence. It takes 2 20 volt batteries.

I wear out before it does.

No problems. The bigger your lawn the more I’d recommend it.
