I'm on my fourth watch (I haven't seen it since the COVID days) and MY GOD....... It's even better than I remember and I've stated with complete conviction that in my book it's the best T.V. show in the history of television.
I completely stand by my opinion. This show is a masterpiece....
What are some other shows that my fellow DU'ers feel that way about?

(19,033 posts)But I also enjoyed The Wire and The Sopranos, although both feel rather dated now. But, setting that aside, they're also great series. The Wire takes a real departure in season 2, like you wonder whether you didn't accidentally select a different show, but it all ties in eventually.

(8,821 posts)I have NO idea why I haven't given The Sopranos or The Wire a chance.
I love Goodfellas and Casino. It seem like The Sopranos would be something I'd really get into.
Thanks for the reminder...

(190 posts)Big ST fan. I haven't yet seen Strange New Worlds.
Love the live action Star Wars TV shows on Disney+. (Mandalorian, Obi Wan, Ashoka, Andor, ...)
Breaking Bad is certainly one of the best non Sci-Fi shows, as is Better Call Saul.

(493 posts)Much better than the first season, not the that the first season was bad, second season is just better. Maybe they're hitting their groove. I highly recommend it. I like a lot of the British TV shows. One of my favorites is River with Nicola Walker and Stellan Skarsgard. Police drama, but strange and wonderful.

(190 posts)Dune, Avengers, The Acolyte, ...
I'm planning a subscription to Paramount+ when my Disney subscript expires in November.
I look forward to the adventures of Capt Pike. He was wonderful in Discovery season 2.
Cheers!

(124 posts)It's animated, which isn't generally my thing but I liked it a lot. They did one crossover show with Strange New Worlds, which was great.

(4,418 posts)Did you ever catch Oz on HBO? That was a damned good show!

and I'm delighted to learn that its precursor, Homicide: Life on the Streets, is coming to Peacock. It has not been released before for streaming because of permission problems with the music. I haven't seen it and can't wait. (When life seems unmanageable I escape best in gritty smart dramas with some criminals involved and smart detectives.)

(8,821 posts)The Wire has been mentioned so often (friends who know me have also recommended it). Maybe when I finish Breaking Bad today (I'm on episode 2 of the last season) I'll go with The Wire next.
Thanks!

(37,603 posts)I'd forgotten what a great cast the show had! I vaguely remember watching it one episode at a time back when it was on. This will be like a new show.
Damn. I just looked it up & it came out in 93.

(68,460 posts)Walter didn't have the skills or the equipment to make his product that good & to make mercury fulminate to a white state.
Both are really hard to control chemistry, the latter is super dangerous & they required very specialized equipment.
The show wasn't made for someone like me.

(92 posts)Babylon 5 has an overarching story line that really digs deep into how humanity (even tho it's scifi) chooses to live.
The Good Place also reaches into the psyche for the ways in which people choose to act and behave; however it comes at it more from an angle of philosophy. And it's funny.

(8,821 posts)I wish I could get into Sci Fi but It's never really resonated with me.
I LOVE The Good Place! I've seen the entire series three times. IMHO, it's right up there with one of my very favorite shows...
Thanks!

(35,333 posts)It gave rise to a lot of Saturday Night Live stars. SCTV cast included:
John Candy
Robin Duke
Joe Flaherty
Eugene Levy
Andrea Martin
Rick Moranis
Catherine O'Hara
Harold Ramis
Tony Rosato
Martin Short
Dave Thomas
A lot of the shows are on YouTube and I find them just as funny.
