Dear DU Fam,
I need your help, so Im asking
I find myself back in the ED today after being discharged from hospital on Monday afternoon. I spent four days and three nights with upper abdominal pain and a very unhappy liver. Docs are pretty sure I have retained gall stones but imaging doesnt show a smoking gun
soo
??? Oh, BTW
my body hasnt seen my gallbladder since 2014
Heres the ask
Can ya please throw me some prayers, good thoughts, healing vibes, love & light, etc. What ever you feel comfortable with. Id greatly appreciate it.
I left my husband with two St.Bernard puppies (one, Curtiss who is 10 weeks old, and the other is Jenny, shes 5 months old) and two other geriatric mixes (a cattle dog x and a shepherd/boxer x).
Im also pet sitting the neighbors geriatric cat who is on meds. And, poor Quade, my Venus Fly Trap, whos started preparing for hibernation, barely made it through last weeks hospitalization.
I will catch anything you throw at me and send it right to work.
Love you all,
Ma

(30,912 posts)Should be. Im at Mayo Clinic, BUT, Im having to ruthlessly advocate for myself and lots of people dont like it.
Docs are like
lets order this blood test then half hour later
oops we want another. So Im starting to melt down now. My veins are a mess! They are scarred and fragile. Somebody came in to do the 3rd blood draw since Ive been here and i just told them to coordinate better, draw an extra tube if necessary, but theyre DONE
for the night. My veins have retired for the evening for some much needed rest 💤
Heavenly Father/Mother, grant me the patience to endure my many blessings

(15,080 posts)family, friends or neighbors who can be recruited to help him out?
I spent a little time this morning recruiting our neighbors' kids to scoop the yard, water flowers, and feed the dogs. Unfortunately, he has a hard time accepting help but in this case, he just needs to suck it up and let others love him

A synonym bun.

I LOVE bad jokes, Dad jokes and really bad puns!
Thank you!

(842 posts)Where are you located? With modern imaging technologies---CT, MRI, PET, Ultrasound -- and proper contrast agents --- what you describe as imaging failures is impossible. Plus slightly invasive probes.
Sorry to say, there are regions where the level of training is very low, incompetence is high. Many US techs have no idea why their machine offers 4.7 MHz, 10 MHz, 30 MHz options. Likewise, MRI techs know nothing about T1, T^2 weighted images, and many variants.
Send me a private message, and I'll help.

(819 posts)I'm so sorry for your situation. That blood draw show is always poorly managed. Speak to the charge nurse and ask them to advocate for you too. I hope your pain is being managed. Ommm.........

(349 posts)the gallbladder wreaks havoc!
Sorry to hear you're still having trouble. You're in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. One of my girlfriends had pain from hers for YEARS! She went doctor to doctor and each one told her to just lose weight, eat better and exercise...the pain will magically disappear. She didn't get relief until after her first child was born and her OB-GYN made the referral.
Being here has just reinforced my belief that we know our bodies best and we need to advocate for ourselves...whether medical professional like it or not
