(65,531 posts)I got mom to the ER and back and she has a broken wrist. I dont know if everyone saw that on my original thread. She needs follow up which is proving to be hard.

Your litany of self-contradictory statements is insupportable.

(65,531 posts)And a small amount. Not contradictory at all.
Harker
(15,210 posts)on the basis of purported food and health crises while ignoring the reams of suggestions for what helpful programs are available to people in distress, while complaining about the precariousness of your TV streaming services and while making donations of any amount using the funds thus received, you are quite self-contradictory in my opinion.

(326 posts)You had $100 donated to your fundraiser 7 days before you posted this fundraiser here. According to the PayPal fundraiser page. That means your friend who always comes to your rescue is donating.
Thats more than enough for rides.
You already bragged about making a political donation. Even if it was $1.00, that plus a quarter would buy a bag of rice that would feed your mother. You can find rice recipes online. Our Vice President would never ever take money from someone needing food.
Use the $100 to get a ride to the local food bank.
Good luck. I hope your mother is okay.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)Excellent. We know it is going to food and not the thousands of dollars he got here, unaccounted for, over the last few years
If you remember, he doesnt really do food banks.
So, "mom'" finally got into the ER. Hooray.
PennRalphie
(326 posts)The gift cards for grocery stores might gain him more funds. I think many would be more willing to help knowing the money is going for food.
But
.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)Of course.

(326 posts)I feel very confident his mother will be fed. Thats enough for a ride. The money left will buy rice, beans, tuna fish, peanut butter, eggs, cereal, milk, apples.
Then he can use the internet to look up recipes using the ingredients he has. He can make meals for his mother that way.
His mother will be fed this month for sure.
mvd
(65,531 posts)I want to set the record straight here. I had a lot more than the rides. The other $100 would cover a couple co pays, more rides, food, etc. I have used the food bank before and it is a good suggestion when I can get a ride.
I never bragged about anything. Not ashamed of giving a couple bucks to help elect Harris in this vital election.
Sounds like you are just looking for things.

(2,389 posts)for raising money.
Get a job. You can buy lots of food and instacart as well as uber with the money you earn at a job.
There is absolutely no valid reason for not having employment at this stage. The disability thing is no excuse. There are people working jobs right now from wheelchairs or without eyesight, some have even bigger challenges, and yet they work in order to support themselves. If they can do it, I believe you can do it. Your mother needs assistance from her grown adult son, she does not need a dependent.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)On a past fundraiser, he complained his hearing aids were not good anymore. DVR will purchase all needed assistive devices. They will find WFH jobs. They will place him.
They will do everything. He can take an hr and apply and be trained and working.

I hope these suffering-mom stories are bullshit. ETA: a job will pay for some good streaming TV services!

(95,305 posts)Does your alleged mom need a caregiver? You could apply to the appropriate agency to be certified as same, and be paid for it.
When my late mother in law had a big stroke, the son who was living with her became her caregiver, and he was paid.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)DVR will guarantee a WFH job accomodating any disabilities. They will get him free hearing aids.
Like, 100% job, prob earning $15-$20/hr data entry. He can type. Mind-boggling

(326 posts)Nobody here wants to see anyone struggling. Especially when there is a senior citizen involved who is often ill.
Like many others here, I truly worry about your mother. Does she have food? Is she safe in her home? Is she able to see doctors when necessary? Is she warm? Can she keep cool during the hot summer?
Many others have given you fantastic suggestions and hopefully, youve taken advantage of all of their suggestions to help your mother.
As far as political donations, youre telling us your mother cant see a doctor because she doesnt have money for copays. I fully believe that VP Harris would not want your money, even if its one dollar, if your mother is struggling. She would want that money to go to your mother. There are other ways to help the campaign without spending money. Just reach out to your local Democratic Committee, they will be more than happy to have you on board, with no cost to you. They might also be able to arrange transportation that you need to get to food banks.
The MOST frustrating thing is the economy is PA is absolutely booming. Biden and Shapiro have made sure of that. There are jobs everywhere. Ive talked here about a friend of my daughter in law who just started working at home. Customer service for a national drug store chain. Is she making six figures? No. But shes earning enough money that if you earned that, there would be zero worries about food.
In the past, you have told us about a DUer who always helps you. Thats fantastic. Maybe work privately with that person and they may help you gain permanent employment so that these frequent fundraisers arent needed.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)Brought me postcards to write and then picked them up when I explained the situation.
No, Harris/Walz would not want donations from hungry Americans. Trump, of course, is a different story...

(15,210 posts)You'll see a contact name and office phone number. I'm sure they could arrange a home visit to coordinate assistance.
There's also a hotline to report abuse or neglect, or to otherwise express concern for the wellness of a senior.

(38,506 posts)I may be wrong but shouldn't Medicare pay for the doctor's visit? Medicare pays for the visit and what they don't pay for then BCBS will pay.I also thought if the bill was to large to handle at once. payments could be made in any amount as long as they were made in good faith.TY
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)I was told by Billing it could be low, but paid in good faith. I'll prob be setting up one for myself

(15,210 posts)I'm new to Medicare, and I only have hospital coverage with them, while BCBS covers regular medical, less copays, which is what the original poster mentions being problematic.
If I couldn't swing a $40 copay, I think I'd apply for Medicaid.

(49,094 posts)comes. You also need Part D for prescriptions.
You may want to call Medicare and try to get assistance in deciphering all these.

(14,628 posts)For constant visits. I'm screened annually for domestic violence, if I'm getting enough food, etc. If she keeps visiting the ER, why are they not asking questions? Esp about broken bones? Are they asking about home situation ( no proper bed)?
Food situation? She needs to be supported now that she's older. As in adult, middle-aged child bringing regular income into the household. Really, DVR will place in jobs. So you can, at least, buy food.
Not have an adult dependent. Aren't they moving out of the house soon?
debm55
(38,506 posts)into a separate room without my husband. and treated. The whole time I was asked over and over if he hit me. Years ago when my sister tried to strangle me, I was treated and given a neck brace and never asked. Which is confusing as there were finger marks on both sides of my neck. It was a different hospital. Yes, you are asked about abuse in recent years.

(14,628 posts)Alone talking to you. If mom exists, and it's not manipulation for diapers, medical-Uber monies, food , prescriptions, yadda ya...I cannot believe no one is investigating, unless they ARE... I hope it is not a situation where there is shielding to scrutiny. For whatever reasons.

(65,531 posts)Having some good news that the house is showing a lot of interest in the coming soon phase. Working with a good real estate agent and good lawyer. Please help through this month though as I have noticed mom has been greatly affected. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.

Stop begging for money every six weeks. Have you any shame?
More and more folks point out the inconsistencies when you post. I dont know why DU allows this many requests- its gone beyond ridiculous.
Folks have need, for sure. But your need is that you need a job.

(14,628 posts)But, if late 40s, he can get a FT job and have 20 yrs until FRA. Does someone NOT want to get his own Social Security check at 67? Ever meet anyone who got paid under the table? I did at work.
Now they need SS, were seeking it, and found out they were shit outta luck. Might get SSI. Which is ridiculously low. Do ppl think about their future?
Unless the house sale will net a small fortune so no worries. If they are subsisting solely on mom's SS, what happens when she dies or has to enter a nursing home? I'd be training for a job asap just for that scenario.

(2,389 posts)of these emergency fundraising threads that never end, your struggles wouldn't be an issue had you applied for and acquired gainful employment at any point, but you haven't. All we've seen are excuses as to why you can't ride a bike or how you have hearing loss. If you really do have any handicaps, you would be hired almost immediately by many employers; you aren't even trying. Time to man up and support yourself rather than riding your mothers SS benefits and the blind kindness of DU members, many of whom probably have even less than you do.
Maybe you can show us the doctors write-up that explains what absolutely prohibits you from getting a job? That might just provoke an apology from me, and maybe even a donation.
XanaDUer2
(14,628 posts)Contact PA dept of vocational rehab for the disabled, and he'll prob be working in a few weeks. With new hearing aids and any other assistive devices needed..they counsel you...come up with your plan by exploring your vocational interests...they place you...its what we pay taxes for, and they're wonderful.
