You had $100 donated to your fundraiser 7 days before you posted this fundraiser here. According to the PayPal fundraiser page. That means your “friend” who always comes to your rescue is donating.

That’s more than enough for “rides”.

You already bragged about making a political donation. Even if it was $1.00, that plus a quarter would buy a bag of rice that would feed your mother. You can find rice recipes online. Our Vice President would never ever take money from someone needing food.

Use the $100 to get a “ride” to the local food bank.

Good luck. I hope your mother is okay.

I feel very confident his mother will be fed. That’s enough for a “ride”. The money left will buy rice, beans, tuna fish, peanut butter, eggs, cereal, milk, apples.

Then he can use the internet to look up recipes using the ingredients he has. He can make meals for his mother that way.

His mother will be fed this month for sure.

I want to set the record straight here. I had a lot more than the rides. The other $100 would cover a couple co pays, more rides, food, etc. I have used the food bank before and it is a good suggestion when I can get a ride.

I never bragged about anything. Not ashamed of giving a couple bucks to help elect Harris in this vital election.

for raising money.
Get a job. You can buy lots of food and instacart as well as uber with the money you earn at a job.
There is absolutely no valid reason for not having employment at this stage. The disability thing is no excuse. There are people working jobs right now from wheelchairs or without eyesight, some have even bigger challenges, and yet they work in order to support themselves. If they can do it, I believe you can do it. Your mother needs assistance from her grown adult son, she does not need a dependent.

They will do everything. He can take an hr and apply and be trained and working.

When my late mother in law had a big stroke, the son who was living with her became her caregiver, and he was paid.

Mon Aug 19, 2024, 01:36 PM

Nobody here wants to see anyone struggling. Especially when there is a senior citizen involved who is often ill.

Like many others here, I truly worry about your mother. Does she have food? Is she safe in her home? Is she able to see doctors when necessary? Is she warm? Can she keep cool during the hot summer?

Many others have given you fantastic suggestions and hopefully, you’ve taken advantage of all of their suggestions to help your mother.

As far as political donations, you’re telling us your mother can’t see a doctor because she doesn’t have money for copays. I fully believe that VP Harris would not want your money, even if it’s one dollar, if your mother is struggling. She would want that money to go to your mother. There are other ways to help the campaign without spending money. Just reach out to your local Democratic Committee, they will be more than happy to have you on board, with no cost to you. They might also be able to arrange transportation that you need to get to food banks.

The MOST frustrating thing is — the economy is PA is absolutely booming. Biden and Shapiro have made sure of that. There are jobs everywhere. I’ve talked here about a friend of my daughter in law who just started working at home. Customer service for a national drug store chain. Is she making six figures? No. But she’s earning enough money that if you earned that, there would be zero worries about food.

In the past, you have told us about a DU’er who always helps you. That’s fantastic. Maybe work privately with that person and they may help you gain permanent employment so that these frequent fundraisers aren’t needed.

For constant visits. I'm screened annually for domestic violence, if I'm getting enough food, etc. If she keeps visiting the ER, why are they not asking questions? Esp about broken bones? Are they asking about home situation ( no proper bed)?

Food situation? She needs to be supported now that she's older. As in adult, middle-aged child bringing regular income into the household. Really, DVR will place in jobs. So you can, at least, buy food.

Not have an adult dependent. Aren't they moving out of the house soon?

All we've seen are excuses as to why you can't ride a bike or how you have hearing loss. If you really do have any handicaps, you would be hired almost immediately by many employers; you aren't even trying. Time to man up and support yourself rather than riding your mothers SS benefits and the blind kindness of DU members, many of whom probably have even less than you do.
Maybe you can show us the doctors write-up that explains what absolutely prohibits you from getting a job? That might just provoke an apology from me, and maybe even a donation.
