A quarter ounce each of amaretto and simple syrup.

Shake well with ice and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Sprinkle a pinch each of black pepper and turmeric on top. And enjoy.

Back when I used to dine weekly at my local Greek restaurant, the owner would treat me to a shot of ouzo and a kindly “Here’s to you, my boy.”

Both series. The 1920’s one and the 1960’s one. The clothes! The gorgeous ladies! Loved it!

with Kerry and Essie and other talents on the show about how much fun they had doing it. The costume and set designers especially had a really good time.

The Miss Fortune series would be an absolute crack-up on tv.

I barely recognized her when I saw her in the Miss Fisher mysteries.

She was gorgeous. Cheekbones to die for.

A character more different from Vermeer’s pallid, unpleasant, and emotionally unstable wife can scarcely be imagined.
