The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsTomorrow's LOLcats are dedicated to the memory of a very special person.
My Mother, who passed away on this date, 10 years ago. Mother, friend, confidant, and teacher to six children, four grandchildren, nieces and nephews galore, and their children and grand children. Forever in our hearts, for having molded our lives for the better. You are loved, missed, and cherished by more people than you know. I will love you forever.
See you all tomorrow.

(83,453 posts)This place has been welcoming and wonderful for two decades. And it's all because of the people here. And you're one now, too! We share the lows AND the highs and it all works, somehow.
I've never forgotten the reminder from DUer Skittles - that really nails it:
"Someone's always here."
Those three words always help me remember that in tough or unfriendly times, I'm not alone Can't tell you how much that little three-word bit of advice has helped get me through some difficult times. Even if I don't follow up on that, those words help. They help a lot. They cut right to the chase, and remind you that you're not alone in your struggle. I just can't tell you how much those three simple words have buoyed me up. AND if you need to unload, remember that there are DUers in almost every timezone on earth. Be assured that SOMEONE will see it, and you'll inevitably have their support, just when you need it.

(694 posts)All too often we hear about mothers and fathers who failed to be good parents. We never hear enough about those who did their jobs and did it well.

(18,383 posts)My Mom was pregnant with me a few years after her Mom passed away. My mom told me she had me induced so I wouldn't be born on the day her Mom passed away, 8/29.
As long as you have memories, you'll always have your loved ones.
