The death of WCBS New York

Cross posted from GD.

Recorded on 1965 made in USA Arvin radio.

If you wonder why it's important, listen to the last 3 minutes of 57 years on the air.

Last minute is Lennon's "imagine".

The death of another NYC radio station.

It was more than news-radio. It was a community of listeners, of producers, of writers, of a variety of announcers. It was history of Amelia Earhart, of Babe Ruth, of Fiorella LaGuardia, of Ed Koch, of the Black-Out, of 9/11. It was our Touchstone.

Almost 100 years old. And gone today.

And FWIS, ESPN-Sports Radio took over the frequency of WEVD (1050-AM) almost 23 years ago when The Forward sold it to the ABC Corporation. Does ESPN plan on having two AM Bands simultaneously broadcasting the same sports shows?
