I'm disappointed but I don't think his infidelity diminishes all the good he's done. I still love the guy and the Foo Fighters.
What I DON'T understand (other than it's awful to screw around on one's spouse) is why in the world he hadn't gotten a vasectomy!? I mean he already has three kids! Now he has another one with a woman who's not his wife....
Thoughts...??
(P.S. - I've recently retired and MAN do I have some time on my hands. I'll be volunteering for various candidates I just need to do figure out which ones would make the most difference. In the meantime, here I am on DU posting about rock stars gone astray )

(12,858 posts)Well, at least youre not cruising the bars every morning while your wife thinks youre at the gym!
Think. Again.
(17,324 posts)...for all we know, he and his wife have an open relationship and welcome the extended family.
I respect him too much to judge him by my own personal standards

It was probably written by his publicist.

THERE GOES MY HERO
Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum have been married since 2003. But now he is begging her for forgiveness. (Clay Walker, Updated Sep. 12, 2024 7:55AM EDT / Published Sep. 11, 2024 3:51PM EDT)

(9,056 posts)Yea....I guess they didn't have an "open marriage."
My intent isn't getting into people's business (which is exactly what I'm doing here.... ) but I admit, I had Dave Grohle way up high on a pedestal. I guess I shouldn't do that because we're all human.....

(9,056 posts)I didn't think anything you've posted was harsh (unless you deleted it and I didn't see it.... ) It looks like John Edwards was 56 when he had his child out of his marriage..
I'm a 67 y.o. woman who got pregnant by my childhood sweetheart (we started going steady at 12) at 17. We got married, graduated high school, he joined the Navy, and when we were around 23 or 24 years old got divorced).
I've mentioned on DU before that my son (who's Bipolar and I don't even know where he is now) has had such a hard life. Raising him was an absolute nightmare (not just logistically for me but seeing him in pain is absolute hell).
I got my tubes tied when I was around 27 or 28 y.o. I had to go to three doctors before anyone would perform the procedure. I KNEW I didn't want any more kids. I guess it's just confusing why a guy (who's 55 y.o.) wouldn't get a simple procedure.

Since, the Universe has been very good to me.
I've been cranky lately, likely weather related.
Oh yes, the topic, well, some men might have lizard brain urge to populate, some might feel threatened or have their own reasons we don't get.

(9,056 posts)It does seem like there is some kind of urge with some men to keep having kids.....
Robert De Niro was 79 and Tony Randall was 78 when they had their last children...Oh well....
I'm sorry you haven't been feeling well. Hot weather makes me more than cranky, it makes me sick and even depressed (like Seasonal Affect Disorder but that normally happens to people in the Winter months).
Thank God I have a portable A/C here in my bedroom...

(22,564 posts)gotten a vasectomy. All of which are just random speculation in general, not speculation about his marriage and circumstance in specific.
Most notably: He and his wife and/or girlfriend may have thought they had their birth control needs nailed down, so a vasectomy might not have occured to anyone
Also, we've no information on whether this was a long term relationship, or a one night hook-up with a groupie, or somewhere in between, and I'm not speculating. I'm just putting out there that it could have come up (pun intended) rather randomly as opposed to with malice aforethought.
It takes genuine emotional evolution to handle this the way he has. He plans to be an active father to this new child, he's asking his family for forgiveness regardless of whether there's divorce. That shows a recognition of the nature of the deep hurt he's caused his whole family. I also cut him some slack because just a short two years ago he suddenly lost his closest friend and bandmate, Taylor Hawkins. Some kind of grief-fueled emotional turmoil is bound to have been present in his life over the last two years. People rarely handle that quickly and easily.
I sill like Dave Grohl. I wish him and his family(ies) peace and healing.
