with vanilla or cinnamon ice cream. Although I do like pecan, which my father always referred to as "calorie pie". I'm kind of meh about pumpkin, surprisingly.

There was a woman in the Finger Lakes area of upstate NY who made the best damn fruit pies ever. She took the recommendation of a customer of hers from England and put berries in apple and peach pies. Peach-raspberry and peach-blueberry were absolutely delectable.

Her crusts were just the way I like them - ever-so-slightly underdone so the bottom crust would soak up the juices from the fruit filling.

She used to make 60 pies a week. I don't think I have made 60 pies in my whole life.

ago I remember when around Thanksgiving my Dad would bring home mince meat pies from the A&P. Somehow the newer versions available now aren’t quite the same. But one member of our family bakes her own delicious mince pies for us during the Holidays.

Hope you can try some this year. Really good. 😊👍
