5. The Two of Us, from 1981.

Cook played Brentwood, the butler of Nan Gallagher, played by Mimi Kennedy. He only agreed to do the one season, having been 'tricked' into signing the contract, not realizing a season, 'series' in the UK, was many more episodes than he expected.
The show featured a cameo by Mick Jagger, dropping by to pick up some of Brentwood's famous chutney, thrilling Nan's daughter, played by Dana Hill.
It was one of the best sitcoms of the 80s, IMHO.

I see it lasted only two seasons, which tells me it was probably ahead of its time. *On edit, I see that Cook's leaving after one season was probably why it didn't last more than two seasons.


You might remember the 1967 sitcom He & She starring Paula Prentiss, Richard Benjamin and Jack Cassidy. The show was groundbreaking and cancelled after one season. I watched and enjoyed it as a child and later saw it as an adult on one of the retro stations. The show was quite good.
