Ever live someplace you don't want to be?

Condos here are expensive. Its hit by hurricanes. They're building building building with no infastructure. Lots of bad memories hete. Exposed to more serious crime than Miami and nyc combined in 25 yrs.

Lots of republicans on city commission. Feeling like a few PTB are greasing their palms on real estate deals. They sold the country hospital to a private company and the public didn't want it sold. Gentrification downtown homeless herded out. Theyre making the tourists feel. Icky.

I have no idea where to move.

Yes, it's in a red district, but it's very blue. University town (JMU), pretty diverse, great climate, wonderful arts scene. The only downside is that the local hospital sucks kinda badly, but there are good ones within a decent radius (about 35 minutes to Augusta Health in Fishersville, and an hour to UVA or Martha Jefferson in Charlottesville, also an hour to Winchester Medical Center, so take your pick). I've been here for 14 years right outside the 'burg and I love it.

... found three places, came home to cool our roll a bit, and see what we needed in time and figuring out if we wanted to sell our place, and in just six months the prices tripled and the listings went from 15 or so pages to 4 or 5 pages.

The only consolation is we're in a resort-y area with summer and winter tourism and our place increased in value that we get inquiries daily. Two years ago in the madness, there were 2 condo's that went for over a quarter mil. We have a covenent against short term stays - six month minimum and we caught the new owners Air B&B-ing.

school. I was born and raised in rural Eastern Ohio, I hated the DC area. The Army saved me, I got drafted, when I got out of the Army I stayed in Ohio.

around like minded liberal democrats as much as possible. The magats around here are sick and some of them scare me, so I act pretty introverted and don’t discuss politics with strangers. It is sad to be afraid to voice your opinion openly, but I have to think of my personal safety above all else.

Even Dems are involved in real estate. Its like there's a cadre of "special' ppl selling our stuff, the library, buying themselves fancy buildings, saying " they deserve it" building condos on top of the library 250k for 500 ft condo... small city with big problems. The public is mostly against this but nothing ever happens. Lots of public-private deals now. Its disgusting.

Meanwhile you sit in traffic bc no one seems to care about quality of life issues. Sickening to see their political signs stock along the median

I have great faith in Wisconsin this year. Not saying you don’t but: Keep the faith!!! WI is a blue state stolen by Koch Bros. We will vote blue next month.

Raton, NM.

No need for AC
Very affordable housing
Very affordable utilities
No water issues (supply, quality, etc)
A traffic jam might be waiting on 5 cars
Liberal state administration
Pears, apples, peaches for free (seasonal) if you ask around
Absolutely stunning scenery…i mean it.
If you are into it, beautiful hiking/camping

A friendliness that i have rarely experienced before. We have more friends now (about 2 yrs) than 25 yrs in Ft. Worth. Join us!

My son and family live not too far in Boynton Beach (Palm Beach county) where it’s one of the bluest places in Florida. Lots of condos - not sure about housing costs - they seem pretty happy there, traffic isn’t horrible and everything they need (shopping) is nearby.

Funnily enough, it has nothing to do with the weather, which is what people normally think would be the complaint.

But there are extenuating circumstances so I am here for now.
