I live in downtown Clearwater Fl. I am physically safe.

I'm high ground a bit inland, a no evac zone . those storm surge warnings are for those living low and near the water. as of 6pm still have lights, lots of wind and rain at the moment.

my concern is stuff flying around and the inconvenience of losing power. the owner of this little apt building is also here in his apt keeping an eye on things too. we may be cooking hot dogs on his grill tomorrow.

the storm dropping to a Cat 3 is headed to Sarasota, a ways the south, to arrive at 2AM .

I have a full tank of gas in my Kia. if it looks like the power is going to be out for awhile, I'm prolly going to head to Ga to my brothers crib.

Helene brushed by here a couple weeks ago. this is windy-er and rainy-er. I didn't lose power but those on the water got a lot of damage from the surge.

I’m in the middle of the Florida panhandle and it’s pretty darn windy. Amazing considering how far away the storm is.

I stepped out to check my horses and my hat blew off and tumbled off with the wind. I'll find it tomorrow.

Its also 65 degrees. Lovely.

My great aunt Julia lived in Clearwater. We used to visit her every summer. Her sister, Florence, lived in Tampa. We'd split our time between them. Many happy memories of the area.

This is one hell of a storm, I've been through a couple of hurricanes when I lived on the Gulf Coast, but nothing like this.

about the wind. My snow bird friends have a place in Sarasota just off the water. Beautiful place but I guess it's gonna get trashed..
Old Florida saying... Run from the water, Hide from the wind...The worst is now power and NO AC after the storm. Yes it will eventually come back but Florida sucks with no AC..
