The DU Lounge
Related: Culture Forums, Support ForumsAnyone else a fan of "inspector Rex "an Austrian television show about a German Shepherd
That works with a policeman. its subtitled.
(im learning German on Duolingo and once in a while Ill catch a word or two.)
Im watching it on hoopla Through my library. I like German Shepherd dogs a lot, but its not really feasible for me to own one for various reasons. I would like to have one for a guard dog if I were younger, lived in a bigger place, was more experience with dogs, etc..

(3,029 posts)Love how Rex is always stealing the other guy's sausage!
Also noted there appears to be a US version, in some sort of Hallmark family format, streaming on Prime. How you would make the Austrian Rex more "family friendly" I can't imagine.

(3,644 posts)I had to subscribe to UP through Prime to get it. I will have to look to see if there is a free way to get it on Prime. I did see it's on Ion Plus on Google TV, but I think it may only be on 1 day a week in a marathon style airing.

(3,029 posts)I haven't looked at it. Almost all of the US remakes of European shows are not very good, we have felt.

(3,644 posts)but it's fun to watch how well trained that dog is.
I do like the U.S. Version of Ghosts. The cast and characters are great!

(3,644 posts)the Austrian version, but I do watch a Canadian version inspired by that show. It's called Hudson and Rex. It has the same premise of a human police detective with a German Shepherd partner.
While there is crime in it, including murder, it isn't gruesome and it has humor too. I mainly watch because I have loved the German Shepherds since I was 5, and have rarely been without since. The guy isn't bad to look at either.

(3,029 posts)Ok, didn't know that. Actually Canadian programs are better than American ones as well, as are many from Australia and New Zealand.

(3,644 posts)The first year or two of it, it wasn't available in U.S. but now UP airs the seasons, shortly after the Canadian airings.

(3,127 posts)more comforting to watch than a well trained dog who loves his work. BTW: H&R is on for 12 hours straight today and on Saturdays it's on for 7 straight hours.
