"Jesus Christ Superstar" (JCS)-- [of course, I had quite the crush on the Broadway/Film version lead, Ted Neeley, so there is that. LOL ]

"Oh What a Beautiful Morning"-- Oklahoma

Many others for whom the film or theater production has gotten a little overdone and could benefit from some "time outs"...

The Sound of Music is my favorite musical but my favorite song from a musical and one of my favorite songs ever is On the Street Where You Live (My Fair Lady).

Having said that, I also love Edelweiss and Something Good, The Sound of Music....

But I wouldn't say I have a favorite song from it. It's just the whole thing altogether is so great! I've heard it saud that writers can be divided into two groups: 1. Shakespeare. And 2. All the rest. I feel the same about West Side Story.

From the movie on the plane when I got out of Navy boot camp in San Diego in January 1966. I was on the way to catch my ship in Norfolk, Virginia.

Hadn't seen ANY movie for months, so this one made a special memory.

The SOM is my heart, but I’d like to give a big shout out to Guys and Dolls - the film. Brando, Simmons, Sinatra…the entire cast. Adelaide. Sweet Adelaide!! And of course, Brando and Simmons off on that crazy night. I just love it.

When I saw them during the time they played Quadrophrenia they never played this song. I love Quad, but was disappointed about that.

Forward 1982 their "last" tour at the old Shea Stadium: don't remember what song has finished, and we're sitting there. The place is sort of noisy.
Suddenly I hear the quiet opening of piano notes.
I sort of gasp, and grab my sister's hand...and she gets annoyed...like "wth?".
I said, "Listen!" Then she gasped, and grabs mine back. Finally LROM live!
It was glorious!

Movie musicals annoy the heck out of me, they always have. I just can't stand interrupting dialog when they burst into song. RHPS is really the only musical I've ever enjoyed. Who could resist Tim Curry in fishneta? I tolerated "The Sound of Music" when I was a kid So I'm weird, lol.

Edited to add: I forgot about Tommy. That one was good, too. Whoops.

probably my first choice from the musical would be "the american & florence/nobody's side", although "opening ceremony", "the deal", and "one night in bankok" are high on the list.

(give me some assasins or sweeny toddy for overall favorite musicals)
