So far Im a little more than a 1/4 of the way through shopping. So Ive got some working to do. 5 of the 8 main people I need to get presents for have birthdays in the last 4 months of the year.
My wife used to buy small gifts for Christmas throughout the year. And about every year Id find something in the closet in January.
My mom used to buy everyone stockings as a little side joke usable gift. My wife started doing that also. I took that over last Christmas. So Ive got to get those also. Thats easy though.
Edit: my main ones are for the grandkids. But do get smaller ones for my kids. Id love to get my granddaughter a set of good scrubs but shes still in internship rotating through hospitals. Whichever one she ends up working for may have a specific color they require. So that may wait or end up a gift card so she can wait till she ends internship.

(69,713 posts)I buy for my wife. That's it.
So, I don't need a plan.
Years ago, I started doing my holiday shopping in August. The prices are better, the chore gets done and the prices are usually better. Importantly, I avoid the crowds. I hate crowds!
Theres a box and a shopping bag in my closet where I stash the gifts until we put up our tree, usually the second week of December.
As Im getting older, Ive found that there are fewer gifts to buy each year. Its a sad part of getting older, I guess!

(671 posts)We wouldn't buy for each other anymore. We're all in our 70's (yikes) and they just buy for their kids and grandkids. I don't have kids or grandkids, so I bake for my friends. Biscotti is my favorite gift at Christmas.

(27,479 posts)Let em buy what they want. There will be something small and personal under the tree, but my wife and I are transitioning away from the gift-o-rific curator role.

(106,204 posts)I'm happy (and envious) that you can focus on something else. Really and sincerely, I am. But, for me, the intense efforts to remain as positive as possible against an unprecedented threat consume my thoughts and daily efforts.
So, I guess the simple answer is that I've given it zero thought. But I extend a big group hug to all who are or, like me are just trying to get through the next six days (and after).

(16,082 posts)Im making a chunky throw for my sons girlfriend in her favorite color.
I bought each of my sons and the aforementioned girlfriend a Barebones Edison Light Stick. They all camp; figured it would be a good stocking stuffer.
Youngest will be out of country for Christmas so itll just be the oldest son with us. He will be here for a few weeks so I can shop with him and buy something while he is here.
