I was going to a dentist that told me I was just fine for the past few years. I had to wait two years to get an appointment!
Then he abruptly retired!
I found another dentist to go to and OMG! I've needed several fillings and two crowns and no, they don't use gold any longer from crowns I was advised.
One tooth had five surfaces fixed and four more had cavities that were "missed".
Seems the dentist has Alzheimer's Disease and he didn't notice!
I have one more filing to deal with this and *gulp* two crowns next year.
If I did not have insurance, this would have cost me abt. $5,000+.
My late husband had seven teeth left when he died, SEVEN!
So, I better get them fixed up before no one takes my insurance any longer (it is Delta Dental and they seem to be having big problems -- everyone with a contract with them wants more $$$$$$ of course). I have Delta Dental at a cost of $11.00 a month because of my Union negotiated health coverage.
All Americans deserve dental care and money should not be a requirement to have it! It should be a given!

(21,066 posts)I'll have to admit that the five surface one was A BIT MUCH. *eek*
It looks all new and fancy as do the other ones that were fixed.
Three to go!
You don't want a dentist w/Alzheimer's Disease!

(21,066 posts)They are adjacent to one another. Seems that many of the old silver amalgams have got to go. Cost is $1750.00 each for titanium.
The insurance I have will pay for a lot of them but that is it for the entire year!
Once you go through $2,000.00 there is no more insurance and yes, I pay for this every month as does my former employer.
Universal indeed!
