My sister and her son are checking up on Canadian citizenship.

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Emile (a host of the The DU Lounge forum).

I filled out the form and paid to see if I was still a Canadian during Covid. The answer was yes.
Now because of the political climate she is thinking about doing it slso. Then her son could also.
Even though she probably has no reason to worry about deportation she is worried.
The new reality.

I checked went and filled out the Are You a Canadian form and have my ID number. She can do the same and will likely be approved. I'm in Germany and looking at citizenship here now that I can keep the others.

My dad's mother's family is an enormous part of the family tree--spread across Canada--and they are such kind people and Canada is exquisitely sane, civilized and gorgeous.

I don't believe any of us will actually move, but there's a calming effect just to know that it is possible.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do. We are so fortunate to have Canada as a neighbor.

So I am dual. I'll probably be applying for German citizenship since they now allow dual, triple, citizenship. For me the advantage is the ability to live anywhere in the EU without a visa.
My sister is looking for a possible sanctuary.

Not because of tfg. That just added to her moving there. Her junior high school boyfriend moved with his family about 4 years back. She’s been up there visiting around 3-4 times since. She just turned 18 this year.
