However, sadly, most people don't vote because they "don't trust the system." What the hell ever.

The judges keep letting murderers out on very low bail - just turning them back out on the streets. It's truly awful.

I literally don't even go to the grocery store alone.

On Edit: I have to say: I am NOT bashing Dems. I think it's rednecks and gawd knows the redneck legislature in this state is horrid.

While driving through Virginia around Xmas I was elated to see VA DOT actually had the message that the left lane was for passing, not driving on their overhead electronic highway signs. I hope it helped a few drivers realize the errors of their ways and get the hell over. I’m not a speedster but people hanging out in the left lane can really clog up traffic.

If he's agitated about something, he chews louder and faster.

I've spoken to him about this many times, to no avail. He'll stop briefly when I say something, but soon resumes his usual technique.

Fortunately, he only chews gum in the car, so it's a relatively limited source of annoyance, but irritating as hell anyway. He's otherwise quite the gentleman.

Instead of waiting for others to finish their statements, listening, and then commenting.
(Too much of this happens at Congressional hearings, debates and interviews--- often the m.o. of trumpist republicans).

Somewhat like the way a sneeze or tic can sometimes be temporarily stifled, eventually the pain and discomfort builds to where it's basically torture to avoid it.

Once I did an experiment of really avoiding any voluntary cracking. The discomfort aside, eventually my knuckles would crack on their own when I least expected it. Even just putting away the dishes, and I would nearly lose my grip as my fingers would move in a way I wasn't expecting.

I concluded that just avoiding cracking is no cure, the best I could do was to try to avoid doing it right in front of someone who doesn't like it, much as I turn my head when I sneeze.

My mother has the same issue, the joints are just subject to cracking. She loves playing the piano and has to crack her fingers before she plays to keep it from happening while playing as that ruins the piece for her.

It's not well studied, but imho, it's more of a medical condition than a bad habit. At least for some of us knuckle-crackers....

47. Ok, here's a driving peeve: jumping the green to make a left
Fri Jan 10, 2025, 01:35 PM
Jan 10

You're stopped at a light. Facing you is the only other car for miles. Long wait for the light.

The moment it turns green, you start forward, but the other car jumps out to make a left turn in front of you, so you have to brake to avoid an accident. Yes, you were only going 3 mph so an accident wasn't at all likely, but still.

Thing is, everyone knows it's illegal. The driver going straight has the right of way, not the driver making a left turn.

So if they are willing to do something illegal to get through the intersection ahead of you, they should just run the red light! It's safer when there's clearly no traffic! Instead, they wait until the very moment they know you will hit the gas, maximizing the chance of an accident in a routine situation.

Obviously they should just wait their turn. But if they're going to break traffic laws, they should choose the safer alternative. A facetious argument to show just how stupid jumping to make a left is.

joints!
Now that I know What it actually is it probably won't bother me.

Surprised that the cause of the pain of the is nitrogen bubbles build up in the synovial fluid.

But be careful, peeps, you can damage your joints (ligaments, I think) if you crack them too hard, and maybe too fast. (reading medical explanations)
