with just a few miniature ornaments. I remove those and add hearts. In March I’ll probably take it down. I like to see it lit in the dark corner.

We had a new kitten and it was absolute carnage. So, we took everything off the tree but left it standing. The cats loooooved it. If I remember correctly, it finally came down right before summer and that was only because it was mostly bald at that point. It was missed by all of us, human and feline. I really enjoyed having a tree as part of the vibe of the front room.

My Mom decorates a small (artificial) tree for most special days– Valentines, Easter, Halloween, etc. She gets creative and has some really cute decorations. And why not? It makes her, and everyone who sees it, happy.

lights on it. All the other Christmas stuff has been put away until next year. I was going to take it down today but it’s cold and rainy and it’s still so cheerful looking.. maybe tomorrow?

My husband is in charge of getting it and decorating it (he loves doing it). The first year we were married (in our 40s) he put a sock monkey at the top instead of my usual angel. My mother commented “interesting.” He puts it up end of Nov and takes it down first week of Jan. I always had long needle fluffy trees until he came along. He likes spindly short needled trees. His deal; he gets to decide. Why our marriage works I think.

The plant that produces bay leaf, Laurel nobilis, or a related species. The lights and few ornaments come off in early January, but of course we keep it around for its herbal foliage, and it gets lots of outdoor time in the summer. It’s about 5 ft tall (including a large pot) now.

I like it much better than the fake tree we once used. And unlike that Belgian warning not to eat your holiday tree, we can use it in our soup!

Keep yours on display as long as you wish!

in the corner of the dining room. The last 2 years, I leave it there. It's out of the way, and saves me the time of putting it up and taking it down.

I have a white artificial tree, so it goes well with all seasons

in Oct. '16, when my house-mate was undergoing cancer treatments and I had CFS. It took me 2.5 mos to set it up and decorate.

Artificial, 7 1/2 ' tall, green, pre-lit, white lights set in a revolving stand. (Vertical) gold ribbon with (horizontal) white pearl garlands. Large white, brass and gold-colored ornaments hang inside openings in branches, smaller crystal, gold and white ornaments, (mostly angels) on the outside. (Started angel collection 40 years ago.) Some are from my childhood.

Over the years, family and friends have given me many handmade gold-colored or white additions; including my Israeli, Jewish MIL, who crocheted angels and Star of Bethlehem, a gold and white Ukrainian Easter Egg made by my U. friend and Ela, wife of my house-mate crossed stitched a gold angel on white in a gold frame and gave it to me for Christmas of '96,

Christmas of '97, I took down all my decorations on Dec. 26, put up birthday stuff and gave Ela a surprise, 57th birthday party - it was the 1st one she had ever had and was her last as she died in Mar. '98! I was with her for her last breath and sadly was the one to pronounce her, clean her and change her clothing and the bed before the funeral home attendants arrived. It was difficult saying good-bye to this friend of more that 20 years, My house-mate never got over his depression following her death. He moved into my home in '02 for financial reasons.

In 2016, when my housemate came home from his radiation treatment and saw the tree up, he was delightfully surprised and seemed to find comfort in it. Thus, I left it up.

It is still up although he died in 2018. New ornaments have been added - and some dust and pollen, along with new and happier memories. Such as the faces and eyes of the grand-kids and great-grand-kids of my friends when they see it lit and revolving. They call it the Angel Tree. It is in my will to go to one of these kids.

Seeing it each day brings many memories, some joyful, some sad, but it reflects my life and gives me comfort.

Yes. I do believe in angels, every room in my house has at least one attribute to angels in it except my bedroom - real live angels have taken care of me for the last 10 years; each time I read DU, I find something only a real live angel could and would write giving me comfort, a sense of peace, joy, or laughter and every time I go to bed, 2 live Yorkie angels lay down beside me.

One last thing, if you took my trip down memory lane with me, thank you and now look around and find the angels impacting your life.

Fake 5 ft. I cover it--all decorated-- and move it to a large closet where it will live until after next Thanksgiving. I am so happy to have a tree that I don't need to spend time decorating and undecorating every Christmas.
This weekend it will go in the closet.
