into the programmers mind trying to transfer info to the user. I guess it is kind of a logic puzzle.

Getting my library card again so, so e books again. Maybe real books too, when I get to small library 3 blocks away. The central library is big, might get there again (covid disruption) supposed to totally revamp their balcony. Always had to take a bus there but not bad. I'm actually somewhat closer just in the opposite direction now north [vs south of) of the eastern direction I have to go.
While not a birder, my eye will catch a pretty colored, or striking pattern bird. I'm always up to spotting butterflies!

(1,508 posts)I saw a picture taken at (I believe) an apiary. A beekeeper had devised a way to keep his bees from drowning. He cut a pool noodle into little donut shapes and floated them in the water. Bees could land on them and drink safely.
Have you seen or heard of this?

(383 posts)Every responsible beekeeper safeguards the water points. I usually use pebbles and/or sticks

A guy goes to an apiary and finds the beekeeper. The guy says, "I'd like to buy a dozen bees, please."
🐝🐝🐝
So the beekeeper goes away for a couple of minutes, comes back and hands the guy his bees in a paper sack.*
🐝🐝🐝
The guy opens his sack and counts the bees. Then he closes the sack and says to the beekeeper, "There are thirteen bees in here."
🐝🐝🐝
The beekeeper says, "Yeah, that's a freebie."
🐝🐝🐝
*I don't know how a small number of bees would be transported. I doubt it would be in a paper sack. Just a joke. 🐝 😁 🐝

(19,606 posts)I collect vintage computers (have over 25), comic books (400+), watch baseball, ride my bike (when it's warm), have aquariums, cook, like to hang out in the yard (again, when it's warm), use the BBQ (charcoal only), play the piano (new hobby, still learning), astronomy (I have a Nexstar 8SE), and of course, politics.
Wonder how many I forgot to list?

(1,508 posts)I'm impressed! How do you have the time?! 😁
(I wish I could ask you questions about my poor aquarium - an infestation of nuisance snails, and a single fish: a cory which I believe is eating the snails. I never really got this aquarium off the ground. I wonder how many water changes it'll require so I can start over.)

(270 posts)Nowadays, since my hip limits my activity, that means crochet and embroidery. I enjoy making my own designs. I do crocheted lace and also love to make baby clothes. Embroidery means counted cross stitch or Jacobean mostly, or mixtures of the two.
When I could get around better, I was a volunteer photographer for Find a Grave. I miss it! Finding some graves out in the country was an adventure!

(1,508 posts)What is Jacobean cross stitch?
I tried a very simple patterned cross stitch, but, to my embarrassment, I couldn't do it. 🤯

(270 posts)Read counted cross stitch OR Jacobean embroidery. Jacobean is a style of crewel embroidery:
I started out with printed cross stitch patterns and worked my way up from there. Been embroidering all my life - Mom started me on it as a rainy-day activity when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Anything to get me to sit still and be quiet. But I came to love it!
See if there are any embroidery classes in your area. Keep practicing! Lots of fun and satisfaction to be had.
You should have seen my first attempts at crocheted lace! I think I invented several sorts of permanent knots!

(367 posts)I didn't have much time to read when I was working so after I retired in 2004 I started reading. Mysteries, scifi, non-fiction, etc. by a lot of popular authors as well as some lesser known ones. I read between 50 and 70 books a year and I'm always looking for new authors.

And, I do most of the cooking now that I'm retired, but I don't know if pretending to be a chef counts as a hobby!

But, I'm all over the map, not just French.
Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, Indian, North African, Spanish, and steakhouse fare.
Julia was far more dedicated to French cuisine, plus she could bake. I can't.

Do you have any vintage Barbies?

(9,895 posts)My favorite, if I had to pick one, would be the Fashion Avenue Barbie, with long red hair and blue eyes. I love the red-haired ones the best.

(7,539 posts)These days, I have created and am running what is known as a 'tabletop game' and back in the day was known as a 'role-playing game'. It is like Dungeons and Dragons, but my game is not a medieval fantasy setting. I will put the flyer below.
https://i.postimg.cc/8k44PMs7/temp-Image-Js-Mb85.avif
I have been running the game for almost four years now on a website called 'Roll20'. The group are friends of mine that I have known and gamed with for over forty years (in most cases).
I have been creating everything for it. Stories, maps, texts, etc. It has been a lot of fun. I like doing this kind of thing. I am hoping to expand it some and then attempt to get it published. There are many hurdles to this, as I am a sponge when it comes to creating content for a game and will grab any image or text I need to create my illusion. This means that, if I want to copyright the game for myself, I will have to remove about 90% of the images I use for reference as they don't belong to me. This is not a dealbreaker, it just creates a lot of work before I can shop it around.
I started playing D&D when I was 16. I started with the basic set ('the red box') and then dove into Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 1st edition and never looked back.
