m$ skype is going bye bye.

i will be trying out other ommunications software like ::
whatsapp
siignal and or bluesky in a blind taste test.
tried to down load m$ teams but it wouldnt dl to my disck.
dont know what the sys requirements are for m$ teams
this computer is a early 2014 macbook air with big sur as os.
what is your fav comm software ? why and why not? thanks in advance.

...from what I've read, if you like Skype, you'll probably like Microsoft Teams.

Been using Skype for years and am really sorry to see it go. (But knew it would happen eventually after MS bought it.)

The big and annoying feature of Teams, for me, is that there is no direct calling. With Skype, you just call. With Teams, you have to send an email and invite someone.

I used Teams & Zoom just a bit when I was substitute teaching during COVID, when schools were using hybrid attendance models.
But, I've never used it for anything personal, so I've never experienced a need to make direct contact.
I was just going by what I've been reading since MS bought Skype.

It is a bit more labor intensive than Skype, but we are not using Teams. So, we decided to use Discord.

Two of our number still have teens at home and they are now popular with their kid's friends because they now have a 'Discord handle'.
