They are a great sign of spring and also a sign that someone who cared once lived here. For several years I lived in south central Missouri, in the foothills of the Ozarks. Every spring the hills were filled with patches of daffodils where once there was a homestead. The buildings were mostly gone, but the gift of the daffodils lives on.
