Greenpeace activist involved in P&G protest dies
One of the Greenpeace activists facing felony charges for a protest at Procter & Gamble early this year has died, the environmental group said Wednesday.
Tyler David Wilkerson, 27, was slated to face trial on Oct. 27 on vandalism and burglary charges in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court, accused of improperly entering P&G's corporate headquarters this spring and damaging windows and locks. If convicted, he faced a maximum sentence of 9 1/2 years in prison.
An obituary in the Fresno Bee does not list a cause of death. Wilkerson was a U.S. Marine veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The March 4 incident garnered international attention after the group hung 60-foot banners protesting P&G's use of palm oil sourced from allegedly irresponsible producers.... MORE at link provided above.
