Never before has a U.S. President entered office with such a slew of conflicts of interest and such a clear plan to profit from it.
The Trump Organization includes a tangled web of hundreds of companies and thousands of management, marketing and licensing agreements. This all creates murky ethical and legal implications for investors both foreign and domestic, including major pension funds like the New York State Common Retirement Fund (NYSCRF).
The NYS Common Retirement Fund, the third largest pension fund in the country, manages retirement, disability, and death benefits for firefighters, police personnel and other public workersm. NYSCRF has a reputation for being a leader on ethics and transparency, but Trumps refusal to divest his holdings in the Trump Organization has put the pension fund in a compromising position as investors in a real estate fund known as CIM Fund III.
Right now, the hard-earned dollars of current and retired New York state and local employees are being paid into CIM Fund III, a real estate fund that transfers millions to the Trump Organization to manage the Trump SoHo hotel and condominium in New York City. Those payments from state pension funds fall into a scheme that ultimately puts money directly into President Trumps pockets, and violates the Domestic Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution.
We the people have the power to hold President Trump accountable to the U.S. Constitution. We have a duty to stand up for public workers and speak out against corruption.
Join us to call on the NYS Common Retirement Fund to divest from Trump SoHo and stop all future investments of pension funds into the Trump Organization.
Its time to stop lining Trumps pockets with state retirement funds. We can start by divesting from Trump SoHo!
Thanks for taking a stand with us!
