Hillary Rodham Clinton made an appeal for an endorsement from the American Federation of Teachers this week, suggesting in a private meeting with union officials that critics have turned teachers into scapegoats for all of societys problems.
From what Ive seen, all of the evidence, and my own personal experience, says that the most important and impactful thing we can do for our public schools is to recruit, support and retain the highest-quality educators, Mrs. Clinton said before a question-and-answer session with teachers, according to the union, which released her remarks.
It is just dead wrong to make teachers the scapegoats for all of societys problems, she said. Where I come from, teachers are the solution. Mrs. Clintons remarks were first reported by BuzzFeed.
Mrs. Clinton, as well as two other Democratic presidential hopefuls, former Gov. Martin OMalley of Maryland and Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, appeared at the unions executive council meeting this week. But even allies of Mr. OMalley and Mr. Sanders acknowledge that Mrs. Clinton is likely to earn the federations backing.

(36,988 posts)and making less than I ever did being a carpenter and making shit when the Clintons or this nation did shit about education time and pay.
I think I served this nation being an educator, as much as any military 'hero'teaching in the inner cities of this nation and then my time in a residential center teaching math and science to abused and abusers of this society, victims of the corruption that society does and leaves teachers like me to pick up the pieces .
Sorry I'm pissed about this shit.

Of course she won't publicly support trade agreements right now, she will let Obama take one for the team on that (just as he moved in Arne Duncan to outsource public education as much as possible). The corporate wing of the party has done enough.
