A lesson in "go with your gut."
There were only a few yard sales on Saturday, but I think I managed to blow a good find. I've never been a "Kiss" fan and know zero about collectibles associated with them other than some people collect stuff. So I stumbled upon a "Kiss" collection in the original boxes. I checked it over, all made in 2002 and all from China, and decided it wasn't old enough to be worth much of anything since it must have been mass produced. Couldn't get a cell signal to check ebay. When I got home and checked, I determined there was at least $250 worth of collectibles there. And so I raced back to the sale. And they were gone. I was so mad at myself for not taking a chance on it when I first spotted it.

(3,626 posts)I've learned that I regret not buying much more often than I do buying, even if it turns out to be a 'mistake'. Now I figure that I can always find someone to give it to or an organization to donate it to. It helps that it's never a big dollar amount.

(7,506 posts)The charity thrift shop where I worked for the last 3+ years is closing. My hours are gone so today I went poking around. I guess I was feeling badly. Lots of things going on including a death in the family. I just had to get out.
Stopped at a thrift shop to look around. Since I look at everything, my eye caught a very messy bag of jewelry. Note on Bag: "do not open"...$5.00.
Well, since I could barely see inside the cloudy bag, I did the best look-see that I could do. Lots of rings, few chains couple pair of earrings.
Got home, opened bag. AVON....ugh. I'll admit that the rings are decent looking, the earrings are cute, the necklaces are OK but the total value is zilch. Now what the heck do I do with them?
Maybe next time.....

(51,054 posts)I hoped one pin was gold, but it wasn't. There were a couple of sterling pins, though, so it wasn't a complete bust.
