Hi everyone, Happy New Year, May it be the best ever! Question:
Do eBay ''trading assistants' still exist? I have tried to find a local trading assistant to no avail. No way to access this into on the eBay site. I used one several years ago but he has retired. I have tried to sell some of my stuff on local 'garage' sale sites and that has been a frustrating experience. Added to the no-shows, I had an item stolen. Not doing that again.
I need to move some good and some not quite so good stuff along. The dealers in my area are not buying. The one consignment shop is packed and not taking items now. I stupidly dragged this stuff out, put it in my dining room and there it sits. Frustrating as heck.
There are group shops in my area, some may have space but I don't want to go through all that again. Plus, this is personal stuff, not goods bought for resale. No longer have receipts and most of the dealers from whom I bought these goodies are out of biz.
Sure never expected to have this much of a problem. Sure miss the good old days.
Anyway, need trading assistant. Do they exist any longer? If so, how do I search for them on the eBay site?
Thanks for any help.

(51,054 posts)They call it "ebay Valet" and it sounds like you provide the stuff and they sell it for you. I'm afraid I don't know any more than that about it. I found it on the ebay site map page. http://sellforme.ebay.com/home?_trksid=p2059161.l5350

(7,506 posts)Several years ago, there were eBay sellers who would pick up your goodies or you could deliver them. There were also some storefront locations for these agents. I guess this is long gone. They were called Trading Assistants. Perhaps it was not profitable or too much work.
Your link leads me to the current problem I have. I don't want to get involved in shipping. The 'valet' also excludes breakable items of which I have several.
Thanks for your effort. I'll find something yet!

(14,912 posts)of them in my area. Shops that will sell your items on ebay for you... you take your stuff there, leave it with them, and they take the pictures, post the description and ship it out if it sells. Of course, YOU pay the listing fees, the final value fees & shipping cost (if they offer free shipping, otherwise the buyer pays), then you pay them a percentage of the sale price for their services.
Most of them around here have gone out of business though. I have thought about opening my own service like that and run it from home (the ONLY way I can see it being profitable, unless you have a legitimate, sucessful business already, and just offer this service for extra business), but then you have to worry about being responsible for the property of other people, and having to replace it if it gets broken, stolen or you have a tragedy like a house fire or a natural disaster that wipes out yor home.
Good luck in your search, I hope you find something.
Peace,
