Got a fun item yesterday.

On my way to the store I saw a yard sale sign. Had to turn right, go a mile and turn right again and go another 1/2 mile.
Didn’t look like much there, I like to look anyway. Saw, what looked like a chalk figure of a Native American. Not in great shape, most old chalk figures aren’t. Got home and looked it over and on the front it said “Chief Wats Pop”.
Turned out to be a 1930s store counter top display for lollipops. Even in its ruff shape, looks like 100 times my $3 investment. Do a search for “Chief Wata Pop images”.

Last week I went to a dinner at a person's house who is a collectibles appraiser. What a fascinating time. So many interesting items on display on the shelves, in the garden, and also used to serve dinner.

There were bejeweled cheese cutters, little knives with fancy Victorian ladies shoes on the end, red glass plates and a cake server to match. Of course, each item had a story to go with it.

3. I'm like the bar owner that doesn't drink.

I don’t collect anymore. I like finding things for other folks. Lots of cool stuff in my home. If it’s mine it’s for sale. The items in my house, that I really like, have a very high price😆 on them. I now have a tiny house. My GF likes to keep things so she has a sticker on her things that say NFS, not for sale on them. I’ve been doing this for over 30 years.
I do find useful stuff like cloths, household items and other things I would buy in a retail store. I save tons of money. Been retired for 20 years, so love to save for trips and such.

2. Great find! Currently eBay has one listed and it's over $300!

I’ve collected the Miller Studios chalkware pieces over the years, started with the popular fish and bubbles on my bathroom wall. My daughter is an antique dealer and I often get first dibs on her buys.

4. Pretty close to the condition of mine.

Only the tip of the nose broke off. As you know chalk ware is almost impossible to find in perfect condition.
One of the things that add to the value is if it has value to more than one type of collector. Chalk ware, store displays and advertising for this item. My favorite thing to look for are guitars. I always ask if they have any old musical instruments. Many times, when I ask that, they remember that old instrument in the attic.

5. Used to do a lot of ebay selling.

my best sale $7.00 snare drum that brought $ 425.00. They did wrong by me so I quit using them. Maybe should start again. Am seriously considering it.

6. My girl friend does eBay for me.

Actually for her. Let her keep the money. She got all of her Xmas shopping money last year on one item. Bought a mans watch for a dollar and she got $400 for it.
She is younger and better at online stuff than me. She has the label and post office programs and a scale. So far no problems with eBay or the customers. I like the mall. Have 2 booths and do great there. I price items low, so most of my sales are to dealers with tax numbers. I’ve done well taking things to local auction houses and do well on graigslist.
