It's the first day of April! April Fools' Day, one of the most light
hearted days of the year, is celebrated around the world each year.
Sometimes referred to as All Fools' Day, the day is widely recognized as
a day when many people play pranks, gags and jokes on each other.

Swiss Spaghetti Harvest

On April Fools' Day in 1957 a news show on BBC aired footage of Swiss
"Spaghetti Farmers" picking spaghetti from trees. The fake footage was
aired as a joke, but viewers called in to find out how they could grow
their own spaghetti trees. Instead of coming clean, the BBC cheekily
replied, "place a sprig of spaghetti in a tin of tomato sauce and hope
for the best."

The original Mr. Potato Head toy made its debut and was patented in
1952. Simple fun -- no batteries required! You take a real potato and
jab pieces of a set of pointy-backed facial features into it to create
almost unlimited wacky looks for the spud. It became the first toy with
a dedicated TV commercial and helped Hasbro earn more than $4 million in
just a few months. Over the past six decades, there have been
100,000,000 Mr. and Mrs. Potato Heads sold in 30 countries. Happy 60th
birthday Mr. Potato head!

cascading waterfall offer educational and entertaining ways to give

Chuck Jones is the late animator behind such Looney Tunes characters as
Bugs Bunny, Wile E. Coyote, Daffy Duck, Sylvester and Pepé Le Pew. The
Chuck Jones Experience is now an attraction at Circus Circus Las Vegas
showcasing Jones' work. This new permanent installation includes
displays on the man and his work, a theater, a room full of 3-D
cartoon-character sculptures and a workshop where you can create your
own sound effects and record voice-overs.

Locked away in storage since the 1970s, the complete set of 19th-century
artist James Carling's drawings of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven" are on
display at Richmond's Poe Museum until May 1. The exhibit, in
celebration of Poe's 203rd birthday, has all 43 of Carling's original
drawings of Poe's most famous poem. If you can't visit the museum you
can view all the artifacts that the Poe Museum has to offer at the above
website.

YEAR OF THE TITANIC

To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the RMS Titanic's maiden voyage
on April 10, 1912, the Titanic museums in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and
Branson, Missouri have joined forces with other organizations worldwide
to host special events and exhibitions in tribute to the 2208 Titanic
crew and passengers who lost their lives. Check out 1st Class Maid

ABC airs new 'Titanic' miniseries on 100th anniversary

The upcoming ABC miniseries"Titanic" is a four-part series premiering
Saturday, April 14. The series was shot in Budapest, Hungary and
features both fictional and historical characters, ranging from steerage
passengers and crew to upper class guests and staff.

it's an e-commerce site, but we suspect they won't mind if you just
browse) suggests a whole new take on the "traditional" wedding. This
site features photo albums of gowns, veils and lingerie in the cuts and

The Kentucky Derby, held annually in Louisville, Kentucky on the first
Saturday in May, is often called the most exciting two minutes in
sports. In addition to the race itself, a number of traditions play a
large role in the Derby atmosphere. The historic Mint Julep can be
served in an ice-frosted silver julep cup but most Churchill Downs
patrons sip theirs from collectible souvenir glasses (first offered in
1939 and available in revised form each year since) printed with all
previous Derby winners. Other collectibles include: posters, programs,
entrance and betting tickets, pins, key chains, snow globes, decanters
and Derby glassware.
