Looking for ways to buy gold around Denver area
I mean going to shops like thrift store, estate sales - we went to one, and determined that the gold price that they are asking for is way too high, and we just walked away.
I'm trying to figure out where I can find gold in obscure places cheap. Does anyone have ideas?
I might just wander around in a flea market or two this week if I could find something to look through.
Wonder if there is a way to pick through their jewelry and give them an fair price?
Know what I'm saying?

(34,075 posts)with eye loops and small digital scales. A lot of service pins made years ago are 10K to 14K. Take the back off of watches to find the gold stamp inside. An eye loop and garage sales can pay off.

(50,130 posts).....and was told that jewelry (for example, class pins or fraternity pins) that are gold mixed in with other components were not wanted as it was too difficult to extract the gold.
Of course, the price of gold has gone way up since then. Maybe the professional buyers do buy that stuff now.
And yeah, carrying a loupe is a good idea for any kind of buying/collecting.
