How does one find the value of an old doll?

Today I found a doll, it's about five and a quarter inches tall, looks like porcelain, has clothes that are sewn on and according to the note my dad left with it, it belonged to my mom's great grandmother in Denmark. I don't want to remove the clothes to look for some kind of trademark and I have no clue how to find out how much this thing is worth or where to go to sell it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

first try and estimate it's age. hollysmom Nov 2012 #1
It sounds like a "frozen Charlotte" doll (unless it's articulated). Vinca Nov 2012 #2
Break it. Soon after you will discover that if it was in mint condition it was worth $$$$. ret5hd Nov 2012 #3

then try and find something you can find that is unique to identify it if you google.

There are books dedicated to old dolls, you can probably find some in the libraries. Try and look through them.

Good luck, sounds like you found a treasure.

Maybe you can get on antique road show. <-- an attempt ot humor here.

Check out sold listings on ebay. Some go for quite a bit of money.
