Related: About this forumI think I lost this battle. Naples yellow is better as a highlight at the end than a base in the
beginning of a watercolor. Anything I can do to rescue her? I considered washing a lilac background in.

(73,050 posts)that is making my stains run wild and my sediments muddy. I have spent all day applying and lifting color trying to get it there. I think she and I need a break.
I might try putting color on my man in the moon, but will leave white for his little faerie friends. Hey, I've only waited 2 years to be ready to try. Lol

(1,762 posts)Try using yellow ochre and a touch of raw umber, in a thin wash,
Try the results on test paper first to guide you as to the right mix.
As you add more detail, like the previous poster said, it should come
together nicely.

(71,836 posts)if you vant to show light, you have to have dark.
the tricky part about water colors is blocking out the lights till you are ready.
there is a mask you can use that you rub off w an eraser, so you keep the paper's white.
kinda backwards from acrylic/oils.
give him some more black.
