(53,410 posts)She was the only model that I painted as well as doing a drawing. The look on her face was priceless.

(71,836 posts)means you are a pretty limited artists. a nude is just a body, glorious variety and all, but it isnt a lie that clothes make the (hu)man.
like- which do you like, mies or sullivan?

(53,410 posts)Was the expression on her face. And the hat just added to that marvelous aloof attitude. She had a high society air of disdain about her that was like hitting the jackpot for me. I think she wanted to create a scene like you see in a play. Theres a little bit of a story in the picture. One you can only guess at. Youre right about the importance of clothes and surroundings. It adds a hell of a lot more to a painting. I think its probably why I painted this one.
I dont know what your reference to mies or Sullivan is.

between the glass towers and the heavily ornamental buildings? If so thats a hard choice. Although as a science fiction fan the kind of architecture that I Love to see is the kind they show in the last season of Westworld. They filmed it in Shanghai and Bilbao and Valencia in Spain. The architecture is breathtaking. Very futuristic. I find it exciting.
I think I get what you mean about the clothes make to (hu)man.

(24,029 posts)What medium is it? Pastels? It has a very 1940s feel to it.

(53,410 posts)It does have an old style look to it. It reminds me of the 1940s too. Kind of chic looking. Maybe thats why her pose was so appealing to me. I know that when she put the hat on and turned her face so this pose came up I got very excited about being able to capture it. I drew it and then much later I painted it.

(612 posts)I got a little tickled noticing the echoed raised eyebrow and raised brim on the hat.
My mind is now busy imagining stories to fit this picture.

Paintings that the viewer see as stories are the most successful!
