I like your mixture of inking the outlines, but that you didn’t do it on all of them. A lot of what you would draw with ink you aren’t doing but you’re using the color washes to depict them. Like the tiles on the roof and the bricks on the wall of the building.

I like the blue sky with the clouds and particularly the way you show the rectangular glass panes of the far window through the the close window panes. It’s an excellent detail that stand out very well.

Excellent!

Did you change the way you put your canvas when you’re painting? This painting is more precise, and shows you took care to make the lines cleaner and straighter.

my lines. It seemed to help somewhat, but it still took me hours to sketch that base for this. I will be glad when it becomes second nature.

I was all set to do an oblique view of the building, but I came around the side and saw through the windows, and I was in love! It did seem like inking out all the roof and siding shingles might seem busy, so I waited until all the paint was on to see if it felt necessary. I decided it was better off implied in this case.

to let your paintings tell you what to do. Unless you’re absolutely determined to do what you set out to do, your relationship with your work becomes a two way exchange. It works wonders! And it keeps you from overworking the artwork. It allows you to see all the interactions on the canvas.

You did a great job.
