Question about acrylic paint brands.

I usually use Liquitex, Golden, and W&N. (I did try the Old Holland Cadmium Yellow Deep which had great coverage.) I noticed that Blick offers a bunch of different brands and I was thinking about trying Lascaux and Sonnelier. Has anyone tried some of the more obscure brands? Are they worth checking out?

P.S. And since I qualified for some Covid Cash, I'd thought I'd splurge. Some of the paints are a bit more expensive. Are they worth it?

I like Lascaux and I also like Old Holland. The Old Holland brand offers some very subtle colors, that are semi transparent and work really well with glaze as washes.

You can check out some of my work under my handle at Deviantart.

Also, where do I find your artwork? Is this your IG name? Nevermind, I found it. Cool artwork!

Some of the Old Holland colors I like are: Old Delft Blue, Sepia extra and pretty much all of their transparent colors and iridescent colors.

I also don't know how much you work with glazes, but I also use Golden Gloss Glaze and Utrecht Illuminating Medium... the latter ass a slightly right refractory element to colors and glaze. (That can be purchased at Dick Blick.

thanks for the compliment on the work. I am really lazy about keeping up with posting work online. If you want to see the newest work, I am- s.zoonart on instagram.

Good luck! Have fun playing.

I've used Golden and Liquitex before. I usually buy my art supplies from Jerry's Artarama since we have a brick/mortar store here in Newark (and during COVID, they deliver!). Here's an article from the Met that talks about some of the acrylic paints. My daughter has used Sennelier when she was doing some of her art conservation training. I don't know about the properties of the paint, but it's a decent brand. It does have different grades though for different applications (I guess a lot of the brands do now). Anyway, here's the article:

If you ever use oil paint, here's a good list of reviews, with interesting write-ups. I was hoping he'd have one on acrylics, but I couldn't find one.

Old Holland, Lascaux, and Sennelier. I'll let you know how they work out next week when I get them.

I really like the Old Holland paints. They're not any more expensive than Golden but I think the colors are richer and the coverage is fantastic. I'm thinking of ordering a bunch more soon. They also offer some unique colors as well.
