shapes and brilliant colors in your Fall paintings look A little like you're painting them more in an abstract way as if you’re looking at nature in a different way. You’re looking and reacting to color intensities by watching how sunlight strikes them, or backlights them. Your compositions and shapes are well positioned to give the scenes some visual tension, the way scenes are in nature. You capture that wild look very well.

Yet you also are careful when you arrange the objects for your painting like you do with the beautiful orchid in front of the window. You show how the sunlight hits some of the petals while others are shades. The background color is the perfect hue for the colors in the orchid. It is elegant

I really like your white berries in your perfectly balanced wildness with lines going in so many directions. You did a great job blurring the background so it is just a bit out of focus. This painting has a fun optical illusion that I really like. When I look right at the berries they come into sharp focus and the background blurs enough that I notice it. But when I look at the lines in the background they look in focus too. If it were a photograph the blurred background would still look blurred if you look at it directly. Maybe you discovered something new in painting. It’s fun to discover!

I've been growing (not well, sadly) orchids for decades and I just love them. If there are any orchid shows around you next year (if theres a vaccine by then) go and you will see some amazing sights.

We certainly don't get snow like we used to. But overall, this is a great place to live. Things like restaurants are pretty cheap. And there's so much to do. I grew up here and I must say, it's never been better (minus the Covid business). The downtown and midtown areas are hopping. Overall, there's is a great vibe to the city. You can tell I'm a huge Detroit booster!
