Reportedly, during the filming of this short Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart paid a visit to the set and observed filming (hearing that something great was happening). According to one musician, Bogart came up to him and said "Are you getting paid good money for this? If you aren't, you should strike!"

In the cabin scene, Anne Aubrey climbs on top of Anthony Newley. During the first take, she jumped up and rushed off the set complaining to Albert R. Broccoli that Anthony was being disgusting. It turns out that, as a joke, he had a Coca Cola bottle in his pants pocket and she had leant on it.

Technical advisor for the film was Sgt. Marty Wynn of the Los Angeles Police Dept. During the course of shooting he fell into conversation with Jack Webb, then the star of radio's "Jeff Regan, Private Investigator", who had a small part in the film. Wynn suggested that Webb do a radio series based on actual police files. Thus was born the idea for "Dragnet," which debuted on NBC radio about four months after this film was released.

The film was shot in two languages (French and English) with the same cast. In the English version of this movie, the scene when Jean-Paul Belmondo speaks into the loudspeaker calling for Ellain, he can be heard speaking French, English, Italian and Spanish. This scene was not included in the French version, however.

A straying husband frames his wife for the murder of the man he'd hired to kill her.

Sir Alfred Hitchcock had chosen a very expensive robe for Grace Kelly to wear when she answered the phone. Kelly balked, and said that no woman would put on such a robe, just to answer the ringing telephone while she was asleep alone, but would answer it in her nightgown. Hitchcock agreed to do it her way and liked the way the rushes turned out. Hitchcock agreed to allow Kelly to make all costume decisions for her in their subsequent movie together, afterwards.

The key to a woman's apartment may hold bad luck for her lovers.

After just a few weeks of filming, Carl Foreman wanted to replace Sophia Loren with Ingrid Bergman but William Holden persuaded Foreman to keep her.

British writer Noel Streatfeild (1895-1986), author of children's classic "Ballet Shoes", was on an extended vacation to California in 1947 and spent several weeks observing the filming of the movie, paying especial attention to the younger actors. In a magazine serial in 1948 and then as a book the following year, she published "The Painted Garden" (US: "Movie Shoes" . It concerns an English girl who reluctantly has to spend the summer in the States where she is spotted as a potential lead for an adaptation of "The Secret Garden", describing the process of film-making from a child's perspective.

Produced with the cooperation of the Santa Monica Police Department and the Santa Monica Unified School District. Santa Monica is a Los Angeles suburb that at the time this short film was produced (1962) had a population of about 84,000.
