(13,550 posts)Updated the phone because I got tired dismissing the nag every time I unlocked it, and Im house-sitting and taking care of a neurotic dog. Ill catch up later. Russian is extremely difficult for me to follow. I can do OK with Italian, German and French. There was an opera in Spanish a while back. It was awesome. Amazonas. In native Spanish, IIRC, wahtever that is. I might have sent a link to the fabulous costumes and sets.
Met Opera season ended today with Orpheus and Eurydice by Gluck.
Glad youre enjoying it.

(20,540 posts)[Russian composer] was uh, heavy/boisterous-ish?
I'll check out 'Amazonas'. Thanx for the mention.
Orpheus n Eurydice is familiar.
A more calm and peace-filled balance of your night be unto you. 🤎

(20,540 posts)Listened to the outro on the program just now. Piece evoked a 'triumphant' kinda feeling with me.
And, Sean Bianco has a very lovely quality about him, his voice and persona. When closing the show and soon to return home, he tells his wife: "Honey, put the kettle on." So ole fashion n sweet ❣

(13,550 posts)He used to run the program from the studio at Sacramento state, but there was a fiscal fiasco and his show was dropped after some 20 or 25 years. Whos counting?
So he had a commute back to the northern foothills, after midnight. He got set up with live365 and works from home. His wife is the producer, and programs the Tiki Lounge. So the kettle is right there these days.
I cant imagine what to drink at midnight, unless its obviously decaf. I like Rooibos chai earlier in the evening. I never ventured into herbal teas. And then youve got to

(13,550 posts)Shows used to start at 8 on the radio station, which was quite a late start for long operas. Hes a big fan of Mio Babbino Caro, Mario Lanza, and La Giaconda, which was the first LP he got. Also, tenors who hit high C. Repeatedly, as in Mes Amis from La fille du régiment. 9 in a row.
Im a bass baritone so I wont say more.
Sean usually plays the entire Wagner Ring cycle once a year. (Not all at once)
I wont embed a video, but look up Anna Russels humorous analysis of The Ring. Heres the text.
