Are there any knitters/crocheters out there looking for a way to utilize

all your leftover yarn? There may be a hospice in your area that would welcome gifts of handmade hats, blankets, etc.

My son and daughter in law volunteer at a local hospice and approached me about making items for donation. They both lost their fathers to cancer and both had been in hospice care.

I've made a couple of small afghans so far by completing a couple of unfinished projects and
using leftover yarn.

It occurred to me that this is something that fellow DUers might want to check out in their own communities.

3. i was a hospice volunteer for a few years. yes, would be most welcome.

we had a cabinet w small blankets that were used when we had to move a body out.
some came back and some didnt. iirc, family was given an option to keep it.
but we always took a moment as someone was wheeled by, and covered them out of respect.

something w a flag theme is always welcome when a vet passes. i bet colors of local sports teams would be welcome. maybe something pictorial, like animals or flowers. something the family might cherish. something that speaks to the things people love.

4. My DIL says items are given to the family when a patient passes.

5. My mom does similar

She knits/crochets (both) and donates shawls to a local hospital for cancer patients to use.

6. our Children's Hospital always wants hats for the newborns and especially the preemies

"comfort" blankets for the toddlers and slightly older kids are another item.
