1. Never understood why they got singled out

At worst, they are kind of just "meh"

There are tons of musical acts that are much worse for a whole host of reasons

3. Brian Posehn took one jab at them in the 2000's

Comedy Central looped it in a commercial and it resonated. It reminds me of the hit job Beavis and Butthead did on Winger. That was more deliberate and ultimately made Winger uncool. This is observational comedy that identifies something maybe a little bit lame about a band and exploits it.

2. I Like Their Songs

The Nickelback hate always baffled me.
One could not care for their style without hating them. But, I've heard people who actually are fans of that genre that has visceral hate toward them.
I don't get it.

They’re a good journeyman rock n roll band, IMO. But then I tend to like those raspy-voiced guys … Chad Kroeger, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Cocker, Rod Stewart, John Rzeznik ….
