(68,460 posts)We made it our closer; big production piece.
We started it out with the Peter Gunn theme and I used a Hammond sound (so to speak; the keys available fir the context was a piece of crap).
Then I introduced the band, we went back to the theme & broke into the song.
We rotated the lead vocal line by line, then 2 by 2 harmonies on the chorus.
After the 2nd chorus we broke down into a jazzy thing where I played a piano solo. Then after a quiet bit, we broke back into the song.
We won the battle, and all 4 of us won best at our instrument. $2,600 bucks to do 3 songs!
One competitor complained to the organizers that we cheated because we actually played 3 songs on this one.
The organizers told them to get lost!

(2,690 posts)Since I've seen a battle of the bands, but what you did sounds like you performed a medley which I would assume would be fair game

(68,460 posts)I didn't stay the whole tome, but saw 6 bands.
Ranged from "M'eh, needs work" to awful, except for some college kids who did a Big Band thing. 13 pieces plus a singer. They were pretty good.
