Remember The Flashcubes? No?

They were a Syracuse power pop band that were destined for fame & fortune. Anyone who heard them knew they would soon skyrocket up the charts. But that never happened.

Active from 1977 to early in the '80s, The Flashcubes only released two singles, "Christi Girl" and "Wait Til Next Week", but neither charted although they were a solid band with a unique sound that seems less dated now than their name implies.

"Get Up And Go"

Their cover of "Forget About You" could be the song of summer 2024:

Kind of early 70s meets the Gin Blossoms.
The second song reminded me of "Sooner or Later" by the Grass Roots.
The first one had an Andrew Gold feel to it, though the singer doesn't sound like him.

Influenced, they say, by The Raspberries, Beatles, and Badfinger.

The guest vocal on " Get Up And Go" is David Paton, late of the Electric Light Orchestra and Alan Parsons Project.

A million bands are influenced by The Beatles, so no surprise there.
I guess I hear Badfinger but I'm not hearing Raspberries.
I'll trust them, though. They would know who their own influences were.
