This is reminiscent of Herb Alpert and Tijuana Brass, but maybe even more antiseptic. (True confession: I was obsessed with TJB starting with “The Lonely Bull,” and probably still have copies of their first four or five LPs.) I didn’t realize there were other bands mining the same veins. And trying to popularize the fluegelhorn no less!

Here’s a nice profile of “King Richard” (Dick Behrke):

Amazing that there’s a Bobby Darin connection!

I am one of Herb Alpert's biggest fans and I hope he knows it lol, Tijuana Brass and solo. Thanks for the tip and there was Brass Ring for the Benson and Hedge's ad I thought was Herb at one time.

And that B&H ad campaign is the epitome of Madison Avenue hip, when cigarettes wouldn’t kill you and the consumer was king — and willing subject.

Even on airplanes as I recall, although I didn’t start traveling by air until after that era.

Fun reminiscing about the “good” old days!
