EYESORE 9001
(27,630 posts)It was well past the time they performed this song, and Im sure it was better in the previous decade than the late 70s.
I was an Akronite when the Black Keys came to national attention. Another local band done good.
I am also glad that I can listen to this song without thinking about Rash Limbo.

(27,630 posts)Saw The Tubes. One heckuva show in a semi-intimate setting. Dinner was good too.

The big catering room held 1000 and had an "eye in the sky" features built into the ceiling". the corridors were "slot machine" width, the Vegas style showroom held 450. The restaurant held 400, and there were three different bars one with a show stage, and a couple of more banquet rooms downstairs.
Largest showroom between Vegas and New York.
The stories I was in on over five years.
LeBron James bought it maybe fifteen years ago and has turned it into a school for all kids including troubled ones, I believe charges no tuition.

(70,747 posts)She was so mad about that tool using her tune. So, I was mad for her.
At least it came off a great album with a bunch of other excellent songs.

(19,454 posts)There was nothing like it at the time.
Being a local fan you're probably are familiar with the numbers 15, 60, 75.

(62,544 posts)Knew Bob Kidney and Chris Butler. Chris joined Tin Huey and they wrote a song for a waitress they ran into after a gig, this developed into the Waitresses. Chris also bought Jeffrey Dahlmers home on Yellow Creek in Bath.
The 60's and 70's and 80's were my best years.

(19,454 posts)I didn't know Chris Butler bought Dahmer's home. Now that's rock & roll!
After reading your OP, I penciled in The Numbers Band for Friday the 13th at the Venice Cafe during the "Kent Rocks Festival". I'm hoping to make it. It's been decades since I've seen the band.
Thanx for reminding me.

(62,544 posts)... this one I vaguely remember and it may be a conflation of two or three things compounded by the "times". Too many concerts, too many good times. I wouldn't want to be much younger than I am now, but I'd love to do it again. I know I'd take better notes and documentation.
This did happen: B.J. Thomas smoked a joint on stage at the Civic. Got caught. too, and became a christian act.

(70,747 posts)I knew a guy that had a contract, was headed in a good direction (2 of the band members are famous & tour to this day) and he went "Christian Rick", too.
He was a hyper-hound, sleeping with any woman willing. Drank, smoked (cigs & pot), then went Christian.
I always suspected it was a cynical ploy to make more money in music.

(62,544 posts)... poop. I tried to document it. His obituary is the first hundred or so hits. I tried modifying it with 'Akron', and because there's a huge venue on AU's campus 'EJ Thomas Cemter' I add about 100 more muddled hits, including more obituary.
I swear I got it mostly right. The Wiki says he gave up drugs and became Christian around '76.
