The Soul Seven

The Band Direcor at a small HBC in south Dallas had an idea to assemble six students he led in the school’s Ambassador Marching Band to record some of the hardest-hitting funk songs of all time.

A great example of the south Dallas jazz/funk scene of the early seventies. Granddad took me to see them back in '72 or '73 against my parent's wishes, so yeah... it was pretty fun for a little kid who still thought the Banana Splits was the apex of the television medium. I came across some black and whites of that day and got me going down memory lane.
