(3,300 posts)I wonder if that was in Vegas or on a variety show?
That's why I like looking at old variety show vlids, the acts would sometimes fool around like that. The Rat Pack was famous for it.
Here's another of Louis Prima &Butara;& The Witnesses with Keely Smith who I really like

(6,151 posts)swingers swung before the rockers rocked. The stories of the "girl singers" for the various big bands is really a great thing to check out. So many of them began on their local radio stations and then if they were lucky a band coming through might hear them. The days of train travel, all night diners, nightclubs with little tables with a small light or a candle, hatcheck/coatcheck "girls" etc. A very different time. When I watch the old black and white movies from the '30's and '40's I see those actresses in such beautiful, unique, well designed dresses and the great unique earrings it all just knocks me out. The wardrobe people for those movies really knew how to put a whole look together. The actresses knew how to move also without looking like they're clomping along like so much of what I see today.
I used like dressing up to go out to a night club ot supper club. Putting on the 9's as they used to say.

(6,151 posts)how special it was in the days leading up to going to a nightclub. Men getting their suit to the dry cleaners, polishing the car, maybe getting a haircut, shining the shoes and the ladies making hair appointments and shopping for the dress and shoes. It was special to try and look nice. Anywhere around me now the places that were "supper clubs" or "fine dining" have people coming in wearing shorts and sandals. It's surely different than when we looked forward to a great dinner and then sitting around the house piano player and then dancing. The last time I was at a restaurant that tried to make things "special" for their guests was back in the late '90's and that was a Sicilian restaurant I used to frequent. The owner started having a strolling violinist quietly walking and softly playing on Saturday evenings. Now places just seem to want your money and to send you out the door.

Wisconsin does have some traditional supper clubs but it can run you 100 for just a steak dinner each. But there is live entertainment or an old piano bar. And of course cocktails like old fashions or a Manhatten. After dinner drinks like grasshoppers and Brandy Alexander or a coffee and cognac. Haven't been to one since the pandemic though.
