She and Rodney Crowell were the headliners at our Salmonfest music festival this past weekend down on the Kenai Peninsula. Here's a pic I took last night. They were wonderful.

(31,436 posts)but I really like her.
I tend to be dismissive of country music. But that is because of what it has become. I like the traditional stuff, and bluegrass.
But she is eclectic. She sings all sorts of things, with all types of artists. She really is great!

(46,436 posts)if you like traditional and bluegrass, you would have loved our festival. There were so many great groups in that vein. Emmylou did a variety of things from sweet and beautiful to full-on rock. The lead guitarist in her band was phenomenal.

(2 posts)EH is my all-time favorite. I have almost all of her albums -- even mp3s of her disavowed 1969 folk album "Gliding Bird."
I'm tall, and was right up front, so I'm surprised I'm not in this picture -- I must be just barely off to the right.
What a fun set. I was tickled when they started into "Ain't Living Long Like This," because I love Waylon Jennings too. I didn't realize until I looked it up later that Rodney Crowell wrote that song!

(46,436 posts)I would have said hello. I have lots more pics, so you may very well be in some of them.
Were you there for all three days? We went Saturday and Sunday and had so much fun. My nephew plays with the Williwaw marimba band that played Saturday afternoon.
No -- only saturday afternoon and Sunday, mainly bc of the big traffic jam. Had a great time though.

(46,436 posts)We passed through Girdwood about 10:30 Friday morning, so we beat it by a couple hours. A guy sitting by us said he was about a half mile back from the accident and sat there all day long. When they were finally able to move, the line of cars coming towards Anchorage was backed up all the way to Granite Creek.
